Abdul Working with his Union in Sylet.

200.00 300.00

Abdur Rahim slices labels off of plastic bottles in Sylet, Bangladesh. He works at an independently run recycling facility. The mountain of plastic standing outside is the largest I have ever seen. They receive 35 Taka (0.44 cents) per a kilogram of plastic. They chop up the plastic to make it more transportable, clean it and send it to China. Abdur makes around 9000 Taka ($113.29) a month or $3.77 a day. This is more money then the waster pickers make in Dhaka. This is an example of a group of people working like a union in an organized way to produce a greater benefit for the entire group.
