A Changing Chureca 2012

I artistically photograph landfills in Latin America. I have been photographing La Chureca, a landfill in Managua, Nicaragua where 1800 people have been living and working from the trash for generations. The area is now becoming a methane gas to energy conversion facility. Jobs and homes will be provided to the people there. I am raising money to photograph indigenous persons from the Amazon in Guayana City, Venezuela that live at Cambalache Landfill. In this area, there is also factories spilling red mud into the delta. I will be creating a photo documentary about the area, the land and the people. My artwork is part beauty, part reality, part political, part environmental and part compassion. I try not to have an opinion through my artwork and photography. I allow my art to tell its own story. Whatever develops from that could possibly be only powerful and useful to others. www.TimothyBouldry.com

The most touching part of my third trip was to see the photo I took during my first trip that I gave the Juarez Lopez family during my second trip hanging over their bed inside their small home.
